Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

FluenSi is built and operated by Alessandro Alberga ("we", "us"), an individual developer based in New South Wales, Australia. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the FluenSi app and the fluensiapp.com website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to everyone who uses FluenSi, wherever they live.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we use Firebase Authentication. We collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name on that account. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your real one. Each account has a unique identifier that links your data together.

Learning content

The words and phrases you save, their translations, notes and tags, the sentences you produce during reviews, your review history and scores, and your settings (such as the languages you are learning, your app language and review preferences) are stored in Google Cloud Firestore against your account, so they sync across your devices.

Text you translate or practise

Text you type or speak for translation, the words you save, and the sentences you produce in reviews are sent to our service providers to translate them, analyse words (meaning, grammar, conjugations, example sentences) and grade how natural your sentences sound. See section 4. Please don't include sensitive personal information (such as health details or anyone's contact details) in the text you translate or practise.

Voice

Voice input uses your device's built-in speech recognition (provided by Apple or Google, depending on your phone) to turn what you say into text. We receive and store the resulting text, not an audio recording. We never record or keep your voice. Words read aloud to you use your device's built-in text-to-speech.

Subscription and purchase information

Purchases are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions: it receives your purchase and subscription status from the store, linked to your FluenSi account identifier, so your plan is recognised on all your devices.

Feedback you send us

If you send feedback from inside the app or email us, we keep your message together with your account identifier (or your email address) so we can follow up and improve FluenSi.

Usage, diagnostics and performance

We use Firebase Analytics to record how the app is used, for example signing in, saving a word, starting and finishing a review, viewing a word, adding a language and opening the upgrade screen. These events are linked to a pseudonymous analytics identifier, not to your name or email. We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and Firebase Performance Monitoring to measure things like app start-up time and how long requests take. These include technical information such as your device model, operating system, app version and general network details. Crash and performance reports do not include the content of your words or sentences.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store a push notification token for your device (through Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you review reminders and session results. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Device integrity

We use Firebase App Check (Apple App Attest and DeviceCheck, and Google Play Integrity) to confirm that requests to our servers come from a genuine copy of the app. This is a security check, not a way of identifying you.

This website

fluensiapp.com does not use cookies, tracking scripts or analytics. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

2. How we use your information

We don't show ads, and we don't sell or rent your personal information.

3. Legal bases (EEA and UK users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract to provide the app and your subscription; our legitimate interests in analytics, crash and performance monitoring, security and abuse prevention, balanced against your rights; your consent for push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings; and legal obligations, for example keeping records required by law.

4. Service providers we share data with

We share personal information only with the service providers ("processors") that help us run FluenSi. They process it on our behalf and under their own privacy terms:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

5. International transfers

Our providers operate globally, so your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States, the European Union and Australia. Where required, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect information transferred across borders.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account in the app, your account and learning data are deleted immediately. If you ask us by email, we delete them within 30 days. In both cases we keep only information we must keep for legal, accounting, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Analytics, crash and performance data are kept according to our providers' standard retention periods. Purchase records are kept by Apple and Google as their own terms and the law require.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Account, then Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, your learning data, the feedback you sent us and our subscription record for you. If you can't access the app, email [email protected] from the email address linked to your account and we will delete it for you. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Access to your data is restricted by security rules so that only your account can read it, and our servers check that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a data breach where the law requires.

9. Your rights

Whatever the law requires where you live, we honour the following requests for every user: to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to receive a copy of it. Depending on where you live, you may also have these rights:

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first.

10. Children

FluenSi is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, or older if your country requires a higher minimum age. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app before the changes take effect.
