Learn English vocabulary by speaking it

Many English learners understand a lot but find speaking hard. You can read an article or follow a film, but when you need to say something yourself, the right word doesn’t come.

FluenSi helps you move words from understanding to speaking. Save the English words you meet, at work, online or in class, and FluenSi explains each one with its forms and real examples. Then it asks you to use the word in a new sentence, out loud, and shows you how to make it sound natural.

How FluenSi breaks down a saved word
The hard part

What makes English vocabulary tricky

And how speaking your own sentences gets you past it.

Phrasal verbs

Get up, get over, get by, get along: one small verb, many meanings. And some phrasal verbs split around the object: "figure it out", not "figure out it". FluenSi saves the whole phrase with real examples, and spoken reviews make you use it in your own sentences.

Spelling doesn't match the sound

Though, through, tough and thought all look alike and sound different. Every word you save can be read aloud, and saying it in a sentence, so the app understands you, trains your pronunciation along with your vocabulary.

Irregular past tenses

Bring becomes brought, teach becomes taught, and they don't rhyme with each other. Each verb shows its past tense and forms, and sentence feedback corrects "I bringed" before it becomes a habit.

Words that go together

You make a mistake but do your homework, and you depend on someone, not of them. These word partners are what make English sound natural, and they're exactly what sentence feedback points out, with the corrected sentence and a short reason.

How it works

Four steps to fluency

1

Translate and save

Speak or type a word or phrase, get an instant translation, then tap to save it as a focus word.

2

Get the full picture

FluenSi instantly analyses it: meaning, part of speech, full conjugation table and real example sentences.

3

Review by speaking, not guessing

At the right moment, say a fresh sentence with the word, never the same one twice.

4

Get feedback that sharpens you

After each review, your sentences are graded, with suggested edits to improve them.

New to English?

Turn on Beginner mode and reviews become a quick multiple-choice quiz while you learn your first words. Once you know about 100, FluenSi suggests switching to speaking your own sentences.

English FAQ

Learning English with FluenSi

Can I use FluenSi in my own language while I learn English?

Yes. Translate from your own language into English, and set the app itself to one of 14 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic and Japanese. Explanations in your sentence feedback come in your language too.

Does FluenSi teach British or American English?

You choose the words, so it teaches the English you need. Save the words you hear at work, in shows or in class, and add a note when a word is British or American.

Will FluenSi help my English speaking?

That's what it's built for. Every review asks you to say a new sentence with a word, out loud. At the end you see how natural each sentence sounded, and the smallest change that would make it better.

Is FluenSi useful for IELTS or TOEFL?

It isn't a test course, but it's a strong companion to one. Save the vocabulary you're studying and practise it in spoken sentences until you can use it without thinking.
